About Travel Things Museum

The Travel Things Museum is a London-based non-profit organization dedicated to global travel, culture, and discovery. Our mission is to educate and inspire by exploring not just the diversity of places, peoples, and cultures, but also the connections that unite them. Through carefully curated exhibits of unique objects encountered on journeys around the world, we bring these stories to life.

We utilise both analogue and digital media to produce regular publications and host in-person exhibits, seminars, and talks—both in London and internationally—offering immersive experiences that foster understanding and curiosity.

our Philosophy

Our love for art, design, and cultural exchange shapes our philosophy just as much as our passion for travel. We believe that through exploration, both physical and intellectual, we gain deeper insights into the world and ourselves.

As we journey forward, we acknowledge that— to paraphrase Sir Isaac Newton—we stand on the shoulders of giants. Our philosophical influences are as diverse as our community. One such influence is Thomas Fuller, the 17th-century English clergyman and historian, who wisely observed, “Travel far, know much.” Another is Mark Twain, the father of American literature, who famously noted that travel broadens the mind and is “fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.”

We also draw inspiration from Thomas Merton, the 20th-century Trappist monk, who said, “Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” These words resonate deeply with us, as we believe that art and travel together open new perspectives, foster self-discovery, and encourage meaningful connections across cultures.
